Prof. Brig. Gen. Dr. Arun Sharma is an established and highly
skilled physician with over 25 years of experience with a special interest in Nephrology
and is a graduate of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He also attended his
undergraduate studies at the 2nd Moscow Pirogov Medical Institute, Moscow,
Russia.
He is well regarded in the nation, earning
numerous accolades for his quality and patient-centered care. He has various publications
in both national and international journals in General Medicine and Nephrology.
He has a membership in both national and international societies of Nephrology,
with lifetime members of NMC, SIMON, and NMA.
In addition to Internal Medicine, Brig. Gen. Dr.
Arun Sharma has significant training in various subjects like Nephrology and Haemodialysis,
Communicable Diseases Management, Communication Skills, and Medical Strategic
Leadership courses both national and abroad.
Brig Gen. Dr. Arun Sharma is serving in Nepali
Army for the past 29 years. At present he is the Professor of Medicine,
Consultant Physician Nephrologist, and Commandant of Shree Birendra Hospital,
Kathmandu, which is the only tertiary military hospital in Nepal providing care
to active duty military, retirees, and dependents. He has been posted in
various Departments and Units as a Medical Officer, Physician Nephrologist, Head
of the Medical Department, Head of the Medical Division, and Principal of the College
of Medicine, NAIHS.
Brig Gen Dr. Sharma has served in the UNPROFOR
mission, in Croatia (1995) as a Medical Officer.
Besides his professional career, for his
compassion, integrity, loyalty, professionalism, and selfless service he has
been decorated with various medals including Gaddhi Arohan Rajat Mahotsav
Padak, Pardesh Sewa Padak, Durgam Sewa Padak, Sainik Sewa Padak, COAS
Commendation Medal and Prakriti Prakov Pidit Medal.
Brig Gen Dr. Sharma is married to Mrs. Anupa Thapa Sharma and blessed
with one son, Dr. Avinash Sharma.
